Durante la edición 2013 de la importante premiación las colaboraciones estuvieron a la orden del día: Christina Aguilera y Pitbull rompieron la tarima con "Feel This Moment", Ne-Yo, David Guetta y Akon interpretaron "Play Hard", Pitbull y Jennifer López, estrenaron en directo "Live It Up", Will.I.Am y Justin Bieber causaron sensación al ritmo de "The Power" yNicki Minaj con Lil Wayne se lanzaron a dúo "High School".
Taylor Swift, se alzó como la máxima ganadora de los Billboard Music Awards 2013, llevándose todos los premios dentro de la categoría de música country.
Prince, recibió el premio al artista ícono, y Madonna fue nombrada la mejor artista en giras.
La ceremonia que magistralmente condujo Tracy Morgan, tuvo como presentadores de algunas categorías a Miley Cyrus, PSY, Shania Twain y la chica que llegó sin ropa interior a la ceremonia Ke$ha.
